Gramophone Design Build Honored at the 2026 Annapolis Home Magazine Builder and Fine Design Awards
We were honored to be recognized at the 2026 Annapolis Home Magazine Builder and Fine Design Awards for our Owings Mills Mid-Century Modern Kitchen renovation, a project that beautifully represents our approach to thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship and modern living.
Held at the Annapolis Yacht Club, the awards brought together some of the most accomplished architects, builders, interior designers, craftspeople and home design professionals from Annapolis, throughout Maryland and beyond. It was an extraordinary evening celebrating the creativity, vision and craftsmanship shaping some of the region’s most remarkable homes, and we were proud to be among such distinguished company.
An Evening Celebrating the Best in Design
Set against the waterfront backdrop of Annapolis, the evening began with a sunset cocktail hour featuring savory appetizers and a custom Annapolis Home cocktail. Guests then gathered for an elegant three-course dinner and awards presentation honoring outstanding achievement across architecture, building, interior design and residential design.
The evening offered a rare opportunity to bring together so much exceptional talent in one place. Surrounded by many of the region’s leading creative minds and design professionals, we celebrated not only the projects being recognized, but also the imagination, expertise and attention to detail that continue to elevate residential design.
Receiving an award for our Owings Mills project made the evening especially meaningful for our entire Gramophone Design Build team.
Owings Mills Mid-Century Modern Kitchen
A Mid-Century Kitchen Reimagined
Our award-winning Owings Mills kitchen renovation began with a 1959 home and an opportunity to rethink an existing kitchen while preserving the character that made it special.
Rather than erase its history, we wanted the new design to feel connected to the original home while introducing a new level of functionality, sophistication and performance.
Stained cherry base cabinetry pays homage to the home’s original woodwork, complemented by custom-painted slab wall cabinetry for a fresh, contemporary contrast. The original built-in bench, dining table and chairs were preserved and renewed, maintaining an important connection to the home’s mid-century roots.
One of the defining elements of the space is the dramatic Vitoria Regia Brazilian quartzite, affectionately nicknamed “The Snake,” which brings extraordinary movement and character to the kitchen. A layered lighting design featuring Lutron RadioRA 3 enhances the cabinetry and materials, while professional-grade Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele appliances deliver the performance expected from a modern kitchen.
Even the oversized checkerboard tile floor required meticulous planning and installation to align seamlessly through adjoining spaces, creating a visual connection that extends beyond the kitchen itself.
The result is a space that feels both familiar and completely transformed: respectful of the home’s past while designed for the way its owners live today.
An Award We Share as a Team
This recognition is especially meaningful because every Gramophone Design Build project is a collaborative effort. From the initial design vision through construction, lighting, electrical, technology and the finishing details, our work brings multiple disciplines together to create one cohesive result.
We are particularly proud of Ashley Frush for her vision in shaping the design of this project and of Nick Davis for his leadership of our Design Build team. Their contributions, together with the talent and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this home to life, made this recognition possible.

We are grateful to Annapolis Home Magazine and its judges for this honor and for creating an evening that celebrates the extraordinary depth of design talent within our region.
To have our work recognized among so many exceptional architects, builders, designers and craftspeople was an incredible distinction and a proud moment for all of us at Gramophone Design Build.
Most importantly, we thank our clients for trusting us with their home and giving us the opportunity to create something worthy of recognition.
For us, that trust remains the greatest honor of all.
