This full basement renovation in Owings Mills transformed a once-underutilized lower level into a richly layered environment designed for entertaining, relaxation, and everyday enjoyment. Working with returning clients, the goal was to bring greater style, warmth, and personality to the space while creating distinct zones that feel connected through mood, materiality, and thoughtful detail.

At the center of the renovation is a dramatic new wine cellar anchored by an illuminated quartzite feature wall that immediately sets the tone. Backlit to reveal the natural veining and translucency of the stone, the installation introduces a sense of depth and atmosphere that elevates the entire lower level. Nearby, a moody wet bar and lounge area create a natural gathering space that's equal parts refined and inviting.

The theater room was redesigned to feel more immersive and architectural, with custom molding details and reeded walnut doors that add warmth and texture while subtly signaling the transition into the media space. Acoustic treatments and slatted wall detailing improve sound performance while reinforcing the room’s clean, modern aesthetic. Throughout the basement, layered lighting helps shape the experience from one zone to the next, balancing functionality with ambiance.

Additional updates included improvements to the gym and guest suite, helping the entire lower level feel cohesive and complete rather than secondary to the main living spaces above. Furnishings and decor were selected to complement the darker, more atmospheric palette while maintaining comfort and livability throughout.
